Ex- NFL Player Antonio Brown Enters Not Guilty Plea in Murder Attempt Trial
Ex- National Football League player Antonio Brown is heading to Miami to face an murder attempt accusation related to a shooting that took place in May, as his counsel submitting a not guilty declaration on his behalf.
Detention records in Essex County, New Jersey, reveal that Brown was freed on Tuesday early for his transfer to the state of Florida. Brown, one of the most popular players in the NFL, had forgone transfer to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was taken after being arrested in Dubai.
Brown’s lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, mentioned in an message that he has previously lodged a formal innocent response to the attempted murder charge. Brown could be in a Miami hearing as early as Wednesday morning for a release proceeding, Eiglarsh said.
Based on his apprehension order, Brown is alleged of grabbing a handgun from a security employee after a public figure match contest in May and shooting multiple shots at a man he had fought with earlier. The claimed victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, stated to authorities that a bullet scraped his neck.
Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was only protecting himself from Nantambu.
“The actions he was forced to take were exclusively in self-protection against the claimed individual’s aggressive actions. Brown was targeted that evening and behaved within his rightful entitlement to defend himself,” Eiglarsh said.
Brown was not promptly arrested because initially police did not recognize Nantambu as a target. It not until afterward in May that Nantambu delivered a full statement about the situation to officers and identified Brown as the gunman, the report states.
Based on his digital content, Brown had been living in the city of Dubai for multiple months. In a update after the incident, Brown stated he was safeguarding himself because he was “attacked by multiple individuals who attempted to steal my valuables and bring physical damage to me.”
